Corrections and clarifications
An automated desk makes a particular kind of mistake: it misreads a source, mislabels a section, or summarizes a story that has since moved on. All of them are worth telling us about.
How to report an error
Use the contact page, with the page address and what is wrong. If you are the newsroom that filed the original report, say so — those messages are answered first.
What happens next
- A factual error is corrected or the item is withdrawn, usually within one working day.
- A correction is noted at the foot of the item, saying what changed and when.
- An item withdrawn entirely leaves a short note in its place rather than a dead page.
- Where the error came from the source report rather than from this desk, the item is updated and the source is told.
Removal requests from publishers
A newsroom that would rather not appear on this site can say so through the contact page and will be taken off the source list. No reason is required and no argument will be made. Existing items from that source are removed at the same time.
